PhD Viva semi-successful; now, there's more work to do

2004 Phd

Well, I've not written anything for a while since we've been on holiday to San Fransisco (and others in the South West of the US). I'll be putting some photos up later on, but in the meantime I'll just say it was very fun, and drove 3200 miles in 2 weeks -- that would have got us from SF to NY if we'd been driving in a straight line :-)

The viva (from my last post) didn't go so well -- I've got a lot more work on that that needs to be done. Turns out I have to write a whole new chapter amongst other things, so I'm not out of the woods yet. Ah well, back to the grind stone.

I've got a new article coming out in the near future on JavaWorld, about implementing the equals method correctly. Should be interesting to see how many comments that gets; particularly the section about Bloch's Blunders. I'll post a link to it when it comes on-line.
