In one of the more surreal moments I've had recently, I observed London's two minutes silence from the streets of Holborn this lunchtime.
Several hundered people were standing stationary on the pavements; busses, taxis and cars stopped where they were with hazard light's flashing. A lone baby's cries could be heard with an embarrased mother trying to calm her down.
At the end, a polite round of applause rippled through the crowd, and London restarted. How quintessentially British.
